Safdarjang Residence reinterprets Louis Kahn’s iconic design language, featuring a monumental circular aperture set within a square brick screen on the facade. 

 

Housing four apartments above parking, its reductive plans place services in a compact core, freeing expansive living areas illuminated by full-length windows and a rooftop courtyard. Crafted from exposed brick, board-formed concrete, Kota, and Jaisalmer stone, the building embodies durability with climatic responsiveness, featuring elements such as double glazing, insulated terraces, efficient cooling, and automated lighting. Within its dense urban setting, the building offers refined monumentality, reasserting architecture as craft, memory, and meaning.
